Movement is important. We are all now pretty well aware that sitting around all day is not good for us. Moving around during work hours is crucial for our health. For some reason, however, we don’t do the things we ought to do.
Getting people to stand up from their desks and stretch a bit is tough, but even if you have to prod people a bit, at the end of the day, they’re going to thank you.
Here’s something that works in our office: being pursued by a wild, deadly predator.
Nothing helps someone pop up out of their workstation and make time for that jog more than the announcement that a live tiger has just been released somewhere in their office.
INSIDER TIP: Want to take this idea even farther? Release two live tigers at the same time at opposite ends of the workplace!
You wouldn’t believe how hungry tigers can get, and you definitely wouldn’t believe how scary they are in person. Tigers are actually pretty large. And they’re really, really fast.
It appears that the best practice in regards to timing is to let the tigers out just as two people get up to go to the toilet. Apparently tigers really enjoy a game of “who will get there first?”.
Plus, for humans, racing a coworker to (dubious) safety whilst being pursued by a hungry predator is class-A exercise.
It’s not only hilarious, it’s healthy.
Healthy, healthy fun, for humans AND tigers!
